SOME ERRORS IN TRANSLATION

     Being a translator is not an easy job. They should master the methods, techniques of translation, and grammar. Besides, they must have many vocabularies in their minds. If they are lack of these requirements, the result of the translations will be wrong or inappropriate. Here some examples of error in translation.


    • LEXICAL ERROR
    1. Spidarman 
    The author's intention is translating "laba-laba" from Indonesian into English.  In English, it should be spider not spidar.










    2. Contraction
    The lexical error here is the use of the word contraction. The appropriate word is construction. Hence, the right phrase is UNDER CONSTRUCTION.






    • SYNTACTICAL ERROR

    1. CERVICE HP
    There are two errors here. The first is lexical errors, the word cervice is not listed in English dictionaries, it should be service. Also, the word acesoris. It should be accessories.
    The syntactical error here is the use of the phrase cervice hp, it should be hp service.







    • GRAMMATICAL ERROR
    1. WE IS CLOSED
    It is clear that this sentence is grammatically wrong. We should not be used with to be is. The right sentence is We are closed. 




    2 REACHS YOU ASPIRATION IS SKY-HIGH
    The native speaker will be confused with this sentence absolutely. The right sentence perhaps Reach your dreams as high as sky.
